About me
Ryan Ancheta is a trumpet player, composer, and producer based in the Bay Area. Born and raised in San Francisco, Ryan has developed a unique Bay Area musical style incorporating elements of classic and modern jazz, electronic, funk, hip-hop, and fusion. With every new composition, Ryan explores uncharted musical territory and seeks new ways to connect with other artists and listeners.
Ryan is currently a member of the SF Jazz High School All-Stars and the California Jazz Conservatory in Advanced Combo 1. Both of these groups were mentioned in The 47th Annual DownBeat Student Music Awards. Ryan has performed at a wide variety of venues throughout the Bay Area, including The Palace Hotel, The Hibernia, The Commonwealth Club, ACT Strand Theater, Old Skool Cafe, Bird and Beckett, Ocean Ale House, and many other locations.
Ryan’s professional performances include playing with the MSNO (Marcus Shelby New Orchestra) for various performances in Sacramento, Santa Rosa, and San Francisco. He also leads his own group, the Ryan Ancheta Quartet, for which he writes music. In his home studio, he records, engineers, and masters original jazz compositions performed by the quartet.
Ryan has spent his summers studying at New York University, Stanford Jazz Institute, and the California Jazz Conservatory. In the summer of 2023, Ryan was accepted to the Michael Zilber Jazz Intensive where he studied with Mike Olmos.
